Description

Dare to roam the haunted house

During your candle-lit evening outing at the 18th century Rose Hall Great House, a guide will take you around the property explaining the history and story of the White Witch, Annie Palmer.

As you walk through the different areas in the house, you’ll be greeted by surprising characters: a variety of actors — representing former house servants and maybe even the White Witch herself — will step out upon your group looking to surprise you. They’ll probably make you scream here and there, but it’s all fun and games and you’ll have the time of your life.

Spotting the Jamaica White Witch

Your guide will take you through the rooms to explain the history of the house, the rumors that followed Annie, and tell the tales of current staff members who have encountered strange happenings. Once considered one of the greatest homes in all of Jamaica, the Rose Hall Great House was built in 1770 and was home to John Palmer and his wife Annie, a feisty and powerful woman residing over the thriving and successful plantation years later.

Local legend says Annie used black magic to do away with two husbands and multiple lovers until, one fateful night, she was murdered by one of her slave lovers. Today, the historic house has been beautifully restored with decor and antiques, and you can get a glimpse of what life was like for plantation owners during Annie’s time.

Following your house visit — and possible sighting of the Jamaica White Witch — descend to the basement into Annie’s Pub and try a ‘Witches Brew’ rum cocktail, said to help banish ghosts and black magic. It’s just what you need after a chilling night like this one.
