Description

The perfect half-day excursion of Coba

Your Coba Express journey begins with an early morning pick-up from your Cancun or Riviera Maya resort on a comfortable van. When you arrive to the archaeological site of Coba, you’ll be greeted by the greenery of the Mayan jungle and by your bilingual guide, who will lead the way through this ancient kingdom. In no time, you’ll see why Coba is one of the most beautiful and renowned Mayan cities as you walk on its sacbes — roads designed for a smooth walk through the jungle so you do not miss a single structure.

Your guide will give you all the history behind the awe-inspiring Temple of Paintings, the Ball Court and Structure X. You’ll also learn the importance of the stelae — illustrated slabs of stone that highlight the most important events of the Coba kingdom. Most notably, these stelae helped uncover the calculations that an era in the Mayan calendar would end during the winter solstice of 2012. Of course, one of the most impressive features of the Coba archaeological site is its 137-foot Nohoch Mul temple, one of the highest pyramids in the Mayan world, and the tallest in the Yucatan Peninsula - yes taller than the famous pyramid at Chichen Itza!

This excursion also includes a deli-style lunch to get you re-energized from all the walking throughout this historical wonder. When the excursion ends, board your van for the return to your resort, where you’ll have the rest of the afternoon to relax as you please.
