Description

Explore the sights and aromas of a Jamaica plantation

With outings provided throughout the week, begin your Jamaica plantation tour to Croydon in the Mountains with pick-up from resorts in Montego Bay, Hanover and Falmouth. The working plantation grows pineapples, plantains, citrus, sugarcane and coffee beans used to make coffee. Walk through the coffee groves as a guide explains how Jamaica’s coffee beans are harvested and turned into the delicious coffee known throughout the Caribbean.

Enjoy the flavors of a local lunch and fresh coffee

As you meander past sugar cane fields, sample fresh sugarcane before it’s converted into sugar and juices. Work up an appetite during your visit, as it will include a lunch of Jamaican jerk and barbecue, served with fresh fruits and coffee made from the produce grown right on the fields you just walked on.

Step into Jamaica’s abolitionist history

Your Jamaica plantation tour will be a walking history lesson, as it takes place where abolitionist Samuel Sharpe was born. After being executed for leading a slave rebellion in 1832, Parliament created the Slavery Abolition Act and abolished slavery across the British Empire a year later. Take in this and more stories of the Caribbean with your cup of coffee before you’re returned to your resort.
