Description

Explore the ‘city of dawn’ of Tulum with a guide

Your Tulum and cenote express private excursion starts at the time of your choice, preferably before noon, when a private vehicle takes you and your group from your resort to the ancient city of Tulum. Once there, your certified guide will walk you through these enchanting archaeological marvels overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Listen to your guide give you information about this city that flourished between 1200 and 1500 AD as an important trading port, originally named ‘Zama’ or ‘City of Dawn’.

Take an obligatory photo of the iconic ‘El Castillo’, a cliffside temple that served as a lighthouse for incoming boats looking to trade with the Mayans. Another important structure is the Temple of the Descending God, which looks spectacular with the turquoise Caribbean in the backdrop. If you look below the ruins, you’ll see the awe-inspiring beaches of Tulum, some closed off to the public to give turtles space to lay their eggs in peace.

Immerse yourself in a magical cenote

After your group finishes exploring the ancient city of Tulum, return to your private vehicle to make your way to a cenote. The ancient Mayans treated these rivers as entrances to the the world of the gods, and you can connect with them as you swim in these refreshing waters for a memorable time. You can rent a snorkel mask or bring your own to truly see everything in this natural wonder.

Look all around you to view lush vegetation and impressive rock formations that add to your connection with nature. Below the water, you might see some fish gently swimming next to you. When your revitalizing water adventure wraps up, take your private vehicle back to your resort, where you can spend the rest of your afternoon as you see fit.
