Description

Discover Chichen Itza with the Xichen Clasico excursion

Your journey to Mexico’s New Seventh Wonder of the World begins early in the morning with pick-up from your Cancun or Riviera Maya resort in air-conditioned transportation. When you arrive at Chichen Itza, your guide will take you through this magnificent architectural complex, whose first sight will be the most iconic — the 98-foot-tall Temple of Kukulcan. Admire this perfectly constructed pyramid and learn about its intricate details and history from your guide.

You’ll spend 1.5 hours on this guided adventure through centuries’ worth of culture as you walk through the grounds, finding out how the ancient Mayans lived, prayed, played, and even learned how to fight there. Then you’ll have another 1.5 hours to walk freely through the complex by yourself, giving you time to see even more structures such as the Ball Court, the Temple of Warriors, the Nunnery, the Monastery, and the Observatory.

Relax at a magnificent Cenote and visit colonial Valladolid

Your Xichen Clasico outing also gives you a chance to refresh and unwind at a nearby Cenote. Be surrounded by nature as you make a splash or simply relax and let your worries wash away in these sacred waters. As part of your time at the cenote, you’ll also refuel with a buffet lunch on this majestically natural site.

To end your Chichen Itza adventure, you’ll make a stop at the colorful town of Valladolid, where it feels like time stood still after many centuries. Admire Spanish-style architecture from the town square, with the Church of San Servacio being the primary attraction for history buffs. Feel free to walk around and buy souvenirs from local artisans, or just enjoy a simpler pace of life as you sit on a park bench on the square. When the excursion wraps up, board your transportation for the return trip to your resort.
